That's because it's in a regular help file (attack.txt):

(Blessed)
A blessed blade will increase your wisdom. If you are a priest,
wielding a non-blessed sword or polearm causes a small penalty while
attacking and may infuriate your god, decreasing the chances that he
will accept your prayers: a blessed blade may be wielded without
this penalty. Blessed blades also have one extra, random, power.

Two things:

(1) It has the BLESSED flag, allowing it to be used by priests without
penalty even if it is an edged weapon.

(2) It also has a random power. This could be see invisible, free
action, regeneration, slow digestion, telepathy, feather fall,
permanent light or something like that.

I think that a blessed weapon has a couple of properties ....

1) It gets a random ability. This could be as useless as "slow digestion" or as
nice as telepathy.
2) I think that priests can wield blessed weapons without any penalties ...
don't know ... typically don't play priests.

Yup. And you should. They're a blast. ;)

You're right, it is not. I'll see if I can add a description of all
non-trivial special item powers it in the next version. Meanwhile, I
can tell you what a blessed weapon does.

For non-priestly characters, it does nothing.

Priests can normally only wield blunt weapons. Wielding an edged
weapon or a polearm makes them feel uncomfortable. In gameplay terms,
this boils down to -2 to-hit, -2 to-dam and a minimum spell failure
chance of 25%.
Blessed weapons do not have these side effects. A priest will be
completely comfortable with a blessed sword and (s)he will suffer none
of the above penalties.

Best, Hugo

Thanks for the info. I didn't realize they were so cool. I'll have to
*Identify* them more often.

It's rarely, if ever, worth using an *Identify* scroll on them. Most
of the abilities aren't that good. Most of the better ones (FA, SI,
Telepathy, Regeneration) can be determined with a little
experimentation.
