newbie help with ToME

I just downloaded ToME 3.0

I can't figure out how to change birth options. It won't let me do it
during the game, and there doesn't seem to be any point where I can do
it before the game.

Is 3.0 ready to play? I've found some weird things. The shops are all
almost empty. The help file doesn't have anything in it besides wizard
mode commands (suggesting 3.0 might only be for testing right now).
What's the deal?

While selecting race, class, etc., try pressing '=', which should let
you change birth options.


As for TOME 3.0's readiness, I have no idea.

OK, this is silly. I just got trapped between a soldier ant and a
wall. The soldier ant isn't attacking me or anything else, it was just
following me around. It won't let me attack it and it won't let me pass
it. That game is basically over because I'm trapped between a soldier
ant and a wall. Something is seriously wrong and the help files are
missing.

ToME 3.0 is in alpha, so it probably has some significant bugs.

I recommend posting a save-file on the ToME bug wiki. They are pretty
good about responding.

I'm just warming up to TOME now, and yeah, I had a lot of the same
issues with 3.0 before reverting to the 2.x.x versions.

ToME 3.0 is nowhere near release. The early alpha series exists for the
benefit of module developers. Don't bother trying to play, though.
